Dave and Clarice are sweetly in love. They get married and then after the honeymoon is over and real life sets in, they let things come in between their relationship. Her job, his job, her mother, his friends. All of them play a part in what is tugging them apart. When they are in a very serious car accident, her mother moves in to help take care of Clarice and it becomes more obvious what problems their marriage has been suffering all this time. It doesn't help matters much that Clarice's physical therapist seems to possess the two things her husband has been craving...a son and someone to listen to him.
I knew nothing about this movie beforehand. Never saw a single trailer. But, seeing on imdb that Taraji P. Henson was in a starring role, I immediately wanted to see it. I loved her performance so much in The Family That Preys that I was anxious to see her on screen again. She has this presence about her that makes you really feel what she's feeling. And she's just so beautiful...even when she's being a bitch (of which she is for quite a bit of the movie) you can still see her side of it and not completely condemn her for her actions.
As far as the title of the movie. It's really quite beautiful and symbolic of marriage. Opening scene, the two of them are getting married and the Bishop performing the ceremony wraps a three strand rope gently around them while explaining that the two of them represent one each of the threads on a rope, but having a three strand rope, the third strand represents God and as long as they don't forget that they have each other and they have God in their lives, the bond they have will be "not easily broken". :]
Great film for everyone. I think there isn't a single person that can't learn a lesson or two from seeing this and while it is a drama, there are enough funny moments to keep it from being too serious. This is not a Tyler Perry movie, but is of that great caliber of quality where you could just watch it over and over again.
Okay to wait for it to come to dvd, but please do yourself the favor and don't let it pass you by when it does. This one is buy-worthy and I think you will find yourself wanting to see it again and again, also.
Vixy :]
