Movie Review - Slumdog Millionaire

The story of Slumdog Millionaire takes place in India where teenager Jamal manages to become a contestant on a version of the American game show "Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?". Since a "slumdog" could not possibly know the answers to the questions he has gotten correct, Jamal is accused of cheating and throughout the entire movie, you see the flashback of his life with his brother, Salim, and the girl-turned-young-woman, Latika, who stole his heart. All of this is told while Jamal is defending how he got each answer right.

I will be the first to admit how wrong I was when I thought I would hate this movie. I reluctantly loved it! The entire story was riveting from the very first scene and although it is a drama, there were a few really funny scenes. And the ending credits were a bit odd, but all in all a very well done movie from start to finish! I even loved the music so much that I just got finished buying a copy of the soundtrack.

One thing I think is noteworthy that I doubt anyone else will mention (because I'm weird that way) is how refreshing it was for me that the lead female character did not spend the dance sequences teetering around in high heels. Unless they are actual dance shoes, girls attempting to dance in high heels can be so distracting.

All of the actors had really good chemistry and the villians were some of the most evil you have seen in a long time.

If you have a chance to see this in the theater, I highly recommend experiencing the music and sound effects on the big screen and then it is definitely buy-worthy when it comes out on dvd.

Very, very good movie!

Vixy :]
