Movie Review - The Bank Job

The trailer for The Bank Job looked interesting enough, but didn't look to be anything spectacular, so I made this one first on my list of the night just in case I was bored to tears, it wouldn't be so late that I would be worried about falling asleep. But this was actually a GREAT movie and ended up being the best of the three I saw.

Let's start with the first few scenes of the movie...MAJOR taboo sex scenes for the first half hour. And this was a hard R, but I'm betting (hoping) there are some pretty juicy deleted scenes that will appear on the dvd. The first scene showed a three-way, but all the good stuff was kinda blurred out in the background. You could figure out what each of the players was doing, and it was still pretty hot!

Basic storyline: Martine is given the assignment of stealing some blackmail photographs of the above incidents that are in a safe deposit box. She offers a bank robbery job to her old-time friend, Terry who gets together a crew of his friends and they organize everything perfectly. The only thing the big boss wants is the photos and they are allowed to keep everything else they come across. After breaking into over 200 boxes, it all seems to have gone along smoothly until they find out that there were a few more blackmail items that they didn't realize they stole that the owners are willing to kill for to get back, so now they're in the middle of two sets of bad guys and they're all trying to figure out who is more important to return the items to.

Excellent story. Based on true events, but not sure how much might have been created just for the movie. And the disclaimer at the end says that the names have been changed to protect the guilty. Either way, entertaining throughout!

I have only seen one other movie with Jason Statham (Crank) so I haven't been too familiar with his work except that it seemed most of his roles were just as the heavy handed action hero who just grunts a lot. He had a lot of really good acting scenes in The Bank Job. He still did the action hero bit towards the end, lending a hand to help kick some ass, but all in all his scenes were very well played. And damn, he looked HOT! (Is he this good looking in all of his films?) I think I own a few more movies that he's in that I just haven't seen yet, but I might be giving those a look-see this weekend.

Saffron Burrows (the hot brunette chick in Deep Blue Sea) did a good job, too. Wasn't sure if I wanted her to break up the marriage between Terry and his wife because he had great chemistry with both female leads and they both had good reasons to be with him.

Great story, great acting, a few disturbing torture scenes, good-looking main characters, hot sex scenes, and a satisfying ending. Oh, and the naked people were actually worth looking at, too. (That has not always been the case.)

I will probably see this again next weekend. Maybe even before then.

I highly recommended this one!

Vixy :]
