AVP + R Movie Review

First off, I had no desire to see Aliens Vs. Predator Requiem because 1. I didn't see the one before it and 2. I didn't really care for either the Aliens or the Predator franchise. But, I wanted to see it just so that I wouldn't be left wondering if I was missing anything if I didn't see it.

I saw it and, frankly, I wasn't too impressed.

But maybe it's because I didn't see the movie before it. Maybe I wouldn't have been so lost with the storyline if I would have seen that one.

Keeping in mind that I don't know much about the plotline, I have no idea if anything I'm mentioning below will be considered a spoiler, so bear with me.

The movie opens up inside a spaceship of some sort and one of the predator guys is lying on a metal slab...dead, it appears...when all of a sudden, one of the alien creatures rips out of his stomach. (So now you see how they are both in the same movie.)

Another one of the predator guys sees that his buddy has been destroyed by this creature and goes out to seek his revenge but somehow his spaceship crashes on Earth and there's another one of these alien creatures on the spaceship, so now Earth has both of these bad guys who are killing everything in sight. The predator guy seemingly has the advantage with some sort of blue stuff that eats away anything it touches, but the alien guy has that extra worm thing that can slice thru bodies like butter, so it's a toss up as to which one will prevail in the end.

It was very confusing watching it as the movie was jumping around from place to place (First the creature is in the forest and now he's in the sewer...how did he get in the sewer? Don't know.) None of the characters are developed enough for you to care about any of them, so I was basically just spending the time til the next movie started.

I will say that there was one scene that was pretty good. Had to do with a pregnant girl in the hospital. And the ending was actually pretty good. Set you up for a sequel, though. And maybe if I had seen the movie before it, I would have known who the mysterious person was at the end...damn, does that mean I need to see the previous one?

Sorry I can't give it a better review, but it just really wasn't that scary and it was more confusing than anything else. And the eye candy....well, there's a girl that strips down to her undies at the pool that guys will probably enjoy but that's not worth the price of admission in my opinion.
