Movie Review - The Eye

The original Chinese version of The Eye was so terrifying that the pictures on the back of the dvd case were nightmare inducing.

This was not a good remake of that movie. It tried to be, but it was more of the cross between The Grudge and Final Destination.

Ever since an accident when she was 5, Sydney has been blind and now in her 20's, she can no longer remember the faces of her loved ones or what the world looked like. However, due to her sister's persistence, she is going to have a corneal transplant so that she can see what she has been missing all this time. The surgery is a success, but the woman whose eyes were donated to her was gifted with the ability of clairvoyance and now Sydney is not sure if what she is seeing is real or just part of her imagination.

This movie was okay. Not enough scares to make it a good horror flick and not enough story to make it a good mystery. If the director/producer/writer/whoever would have decided which of these genres to make the movie of and stuck with that one thing, it would have been much better because actually, the story, itself, was very fascinating and the ending was poetic.

But it took a long time to get to the meat of the good part of the story and then it kinda fell flat. Good for a one-time rental but don't waste your money to buy it. And not enough good BOOMs to justify paying to see it at the theater.

My opinion.

Vixy :]
