Another movie I saw quite awhile ago in the theater. I do not recommend it, but below is my review on it.
A dance movie with good looking people, rockin' sounds and an interesting storyline, so how can it possibly go wrong?
I'm the type that watches the opening credits to see who all is going to be starring in the flick I'm watching and as I was reading thru each name, I did not recognize a single one....until they got to the last part about the producer being Jennifer Lopez. So of course, if she's involved, it's going to have some sizzling dance movements. It did. Different type of music than I'd heard before. Reggaeton, I believe, is what they call it.
So you have a teenage kid who gets in trouble (steals rims off a car of the wrong guy and he and his buddies come into the club and take a shot at the kid while he's on stage performing his hip hop song) so his mom sends him to Puerto Rico to live with his dad....his estranged dad that he hasn't seen for over ten years. The kid is really into music and he finds out that his stepbrother mixes his own tracks so they collaborate together and make a demo...thanks to a girl he meets whose neighbor has his own studio. She is a dance instructor and a guy who wants "private lessons" from her is a biggie in the music industry so she gives him the demo, he listens to it, likes it, and ... well, you can figure out the rest.
Most of the songs were really good, the dancing was fun to watch, and the acting was decent.
But like the other two....I just HATED the ending. It kinda left you hanging. You don't really know what's going to happen next, yet this is definitely not sequel material, so I left the theater feeling like "what???". So basically, I'll download some of the music that was in it and that will be good enough for me. Not really needing a second viewing of this one. Although, the dance movements were really good.
