Movie Review - Mr. Woodcock

I just ordered the dvd but it hasn't arrived yet, so below is just my review from seeing it at the theater.

Former fat kid who was mentally (and sometimes physically) tortured by his gym teacher, writes a self-help book and thru his publicist finds out that his home town has awarded him the coveted key to the city (telling the actual name of the key and celebration would ruin the fun) so he flies back home to see his mom, only to find out that she's dating the gym teacher he had who prompted him to write the book in the first place. Even though he is a successful writer now, the gym teacher is still able to push all the right buttons on him and he ends up feeling like the fat kid who can't do anything right all over again. When he realizes how serious the relationship is between the gym teacher and his mom, he vows to break them up by getting all of the dirt on him that he can find.

Anymore than that and it would ruin the laughs....which were plentiful. Most of the best scenes were shown in the previews but there are still plenty of laughs for all of the other scenes, so you will not be disappointed. As with most comedies, there are a couple of corny jokes and a little bit of slapstick humor, and a few sappy scenes, too. But all in all, this was hilarious and I would rank it up there with Superbad....and, time and money permitting, would definitely see it again soon.

Vixy :]
