Again, my review based on seeing it in the theater.
Bomb goes off on a Saudi Arabian softball field during a kid's game in broad daylight killing many and American FBI agents (Jamie Foxx, Jennifer Garner, Chris Cooper, Jason Bateman) are brought in to covertly investigate....it is believed that someone on the inside of the Saudi army is responsible as they have already tortured one of their own.
Reminded me a bit of Saving Private Ryan where the violence is graphic and just because you're a main character in the movie, doesn't mean you'll be alive in the end.
According to imdb, this movie was shot mostly in Arizona but you would swear by the aerial shots that you were in Saudi Arabia when you see the palaces. Very beautiful photography.
I expected this movie to be great and I was not disappointed. Everywhere on the tv and the internet, critics kept saying that the last 30 minutes of the movie are so intense that they will leave you sitting on the edge of your seat. Well, that's true. I actually looked at my watch when it was towards the end during a "slow" part where you're just waiting for something to happen because you can feel that something big is getting ready to go down....and sure enough, there were 30 minutes til the movie was over and that's when the big boom happens and you're intently staring at the screen waiting to see what happens next and how they're going to get out of this situation.
I have to say that the BEST part of the movie was during that last 5-10 minutes where you see the plot unfold and the last 4 lines said in the movie just sent chills down my spine. But I don't want to give anything away, so you'll just have to go see it for yourselves....
A bit of comic relief....Saudis .... apparently everyone has a gun and no one swears.
Word of warning: If you have trouble reading from far away, make sure you sit towards the front of the theater because there are subtitles throughout and the last two lines of the movie are crucial.
Memorable quote: "Everything comes to an end. You just have to figure out how you want to go out....on your feet or on your knees." (Disclaimer: This might not be an EXACT quote because I didn't record it or write it down or anything but it's something like that...you get the meaning, anyway.)
