Movie Review - Sarah Landon And The Paranormal Hour

A teenage girl's best friend has died and the friend's grandmother invites her to stay at her house for the weekend, so she takes the several hour drive to see her. Along the way, she starts to have car trouble but makes it to a local auto shop. (cue creepy music) Out of nowhere a guy appears. He runs the auto shop and after taking a look at her car, he says he can fix it but the part it needs won't be here til Monday. He knows the woman she's coming to see, so he calls up one of his employees to drive her to the woman's house. He mentions the kid's name and it turns out this is a boy she used to play with when they were little kids (cue happy music). She finds out that the boy's older brother who was in a car accident, killing a local man's son, has supposedly been hexed to die on his 21st birthday by the father of the son the boy killed. He had been seeing the ghost of this man for two years following the man's death but now believes that the man has been reincarnated and would now be 11. An 11 year old boy just moved in next door and the brother's 21st birthday is in just a couple of days. Convinced the 11 year old is going to kill him, he tries to wait out his 21st birthday inside the house where no one can get to him.

I didn't expect much from this movie. I tried to watch it from a younger point of view. Didn't work. It was still boring.

I think it tried to be a Goosebumps type of tale, and I think maybe as an hour long segment, it might have done better. The story was interesting enough but the acting was horrible and the "scares" were too cheesy. For example, she's in the house...it's dark...(cue creepy music)...she thinks she's alone but hears something (creepy music starting to creshendo), then BANG...a cat jumps out of nowhere from a room into her arms. That's about as scary as it gets.

Maybe for young, really young - the tweens - girls this might be an okay movie. Otherwise it's avoidable.

Vixy :]
