Movie Review - The Nightmare Before Christmas 3-D

I had never seen The Nightmare Before Christmas, so I didn't know what to expect. I knew that most of Tim Burton's movies seemed to have the same theme (and lately the same actors) so I wasn't too anxious to see this movie but at the same time, it was 3-D and you all know how anything that comes out of the screen at me freaks me out, so I was looking forward to being freaked out....especially since 30 Days of Night kinda disappointed me in that area.

I'll be honest. I wasn't paying much attention to the plot of the movie. I know there was one, but I was too interested in looking at all of the really cool 3-D effects! Best I surmise is that there's a guy who's a biggie in Halloweentown and he's bored with his everyday routine so he goes wandering in the woods and finds a tree with a peculiar marking on it (a decorated Christmas tree) that he's never seen before, so he opens the door and he enters Christmastown and then he decides that he likes it there, so his plan is to kidnap Santa and take over Christmastown by filling Santa's shoes.

The 3-D effects were all pretty cool, but the BEST ones were before the movie started. There's a jack-in-the-box sitting on the screen and you can tell that you need to put on your 3-D glasses for it and the words on the screen that are also being read aloud state that you need to put your 3-D glasses on because the movie will begin in 3 seconds. Then there's a ghostly 3 that whooshes towards you, followed by a ghostly 2 and then a ghostly 1 and then (you guessed it) the jack-in-the-box opens and a scary looking jack-o-lantern pops out and I swear to you it was like it was two inches from my face. My heart jumped into my throat, I couldn't breathe and I thought I was going to pee my pants. (I didn't, of course.) That was really cool!

Nothing else in the movie did anything remotely as cool as that, but the entire experience was neat and now I'm curious as to what the original movie was like....did the characters still move towards the screen or was that re-made for the 3-D version? (Feel free to let me know if you want.)

Vixy :]
