Movie Review - Meet The Spartans

Meet The Spartans was an option to see at the midnight advanced screening on Thursday night, but obviously I could not see more than one movie at that time which is why I chose Untraceable. However, I did still see this movie on opening night at the first nighttime showing. The odd thing was that I seemed to be surrounded by people who had already seen it, as they were saying the words along with the characters...and they weren't the lines that had been used in the trailer. I wasn't too thrilled with hearing the movie in stereo that way if you know what I mean, but at least this said to me that it must have been a pretty good movie if there were people here to see it for a second or possibly third time. It didn't seem to dawn on me at the time that I was the oldest one in the crowd.

I wish I could give you a basic plot to the story, but I just can't come up with one. It basically revolves around the pit of death and how many famous people they can throw into it.

The best part about this movie was trying to see how many other movies, tv shows, and yes, video games it spoofed. It was also a reaffirmation of how perfect Carmen Electra's body really is.

Other than that, a waste of time and money.

However, if you DO intend to watch it, rent the video and make sure to watch until the end past the credits. Because there were at least a few people in the theater that must not have seen it yet and complained about what a short movie it was and left right as the credits were starting to roll, but afterwards, there was another 10 or 15 minutes that they showed....that EVERYONE in the theater missed because I ended up walking out of an empty theater. The previews started at 5:20 and there are usually 15 minutes of previews and the end credits started rolling at barely 6:30 yet by the time I got out to my car it was almost 7, so that tells you how much more film there was left to show.

The comedy relied on bodily functions and Monty Python/Airplane type humor. So if you were rolling on the floor laughing at those, then you will probably like Meet The Spartans.

I still say....wait to rent it on dvd, and unless there is a commentary, this is one I will NOT be buying.

Vixy :]

That's the kind of movie everybody downloads early off the Internet bittorrent.

(Which you should think about too.)
